Farmingdale, NY-The D'Youville baseball team traveled to Long Island to play Bard College in the first competition of the spring.

D'Youville opened the twin-bill with an 11-1 loss to Bard. Jeff Spors (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) drew a bases loaded walk in the fifth inning for the Spartans' only tally.

The nightcap saw Bard jump out to an early 2-0 lead after three innings but D'Youville would tie the game.

A Chris Naipaul (New York, NY/St. Francis) sacrifice fly scored Kyle Taylor (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster)in the fourth. Mikiah Downing (Westpark, NY/Highland) doubled home Matt Veronica (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) in the fifth to tie the game.

Bard answered with three runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to seal the win.

Veronica finished the day with three hits in six at-bats for the Spartans.

Tomorrow's scheduled doubleheader versus Bard has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

The next scheduled date for D'Youville is March 26 versus Medaille College at McCarthy Park in Buffalo, NY.
