Greensburg, PA- The D'Youville men's basketball team started out strong but fell to Pitt-Greensburg 88-78 in their second match up of the season. Marcus Clarke (Olean, NY / Archbishop Walsh Academy) led the team with ten first half points keeping the game close with 14 lead changes before halftime. The Spartans went into halftime down by five points with a score of 40-35.

Four Spartans finished the game in double-figures, led by Clarke and Julian Reed (Cheektowaga, NY/Union-Endicott) with 18 points apiece.  Jon Gemerek (Cheektowaga, NY/Depew) added 13 points while Matt Insley (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) chipped in 11. Reed stuffed the stat sheet with eight rebounds and five blocks, surpassing his conference-leading 3.9 per game. Nate Sweetman (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) also contributed eight rebounds as D'Youville out-rebounded the Bobcats 45-40.

The Spartans look forward to their next game on Wednesday, February 12 at 6pm against the visiting Medaille Mavericks.
