Box Score Cresson, PA-Three Spartans finished in double-figures and men's basketball closed the book on the 2013-14 season with a 95-72 loss at Mount Aloysius.
Julian Reed (Cheektowaga, NY/Union-Endicott) recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Reed also had three blocked shots.
Marcus Clarke (Olean, NY/Archbishop Walsh) added 13 points and Jon Gemerek (Depew, NY/Depew) went for 11 points.
"We played hard to the end," said Head coach Earl Schunk. "We have done that all season, played hard and give a great effort regardless of the score."
D'Youville held a lead in the first half, then trailed. But the Spartans finished the first twenty minutes strong. Reed and Marcus Clarke scored in the final minute of the first frame and D'Youville trailed by just four at the break.
One of the big factors in the final decision was bench scoring. Mount Aloysius held a 32-9 advantage from the reserve players.
"Despite how it turned out, we had players that had an All-Conference worthy season," stated Schunk. "It's something we will build on for next year."
Center Julian Reed closes the season leading the conference in blocked shots, will be in the top ten in rebounding, and in the top 15 in scoring. Guard Marcus Clarke will be one of the top five players in the conference in scoring.
