Box Score Bradford, PA - The D'Youville Women's Soccer Team wrapped up their season Wednesday afternoon by suffering a loss to the host Pitt.-Bradford Panthers in the Semi-Finals of the AMCC Playoffs by the score of 2-0.
The AMCC's leading scorer Melissa Smith opened up the scoring for the Panthers 18 minutes into the game to give Pitt.-Bradford the 1-0 lead. About 10 minutes later Smith struck again to give her team a 2-0 lead heading into halftime. No goals were scored in the second half as both team's traded chances but to no avail as the final whistle blew and the Panthers defeated the Spartans 2-0.
D'Youville had 4 players register a shot on goal. Terra Juda (North Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield), Melissa LaVere (Clarence, NY/Williamsville East), Elizabeth Lyons (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) and Kayla Hartnett (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) all had 1 shot each. As a team, the Spartans had 5 shots, 4 of which were on goal. Goalkeeper Catie Giebner (Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow Township) made 4 saves on 6 shots for D'Youville.
The team came into the game on a 2 game winning streak, defeating Medaille their previous 2 games. In their last game, 5 seeded Spartans upset the 4 seeded Medaille Mavericks in the first round of the AMCC Playoffs to advance to play the 1 seeded Pitt.-Bradford Panthers.
D'Youville closes out the season with an 8-8-2 overall record, and a 4-5 conference record.
