Box Score Buffalo, NY- The Spartans took on the Penn State Behrend Lions Wednesday evening for their second match up of the season.
D'Youville started the game strong by winning the tip-off which led to Jon Gemerek (Cheektowaga, NY/Depew) scoring the first points of the game. A defensive rebound by Conor Gallivan (Elma, NY/Iroquois) followed which allowed Gemerek to then score a three-pointer. The Lions followed with a layup and two jumpers that put them in the lead. Behrend went into half time leading 38-25.
Despite strong efforts by the Spartans in the second half, they were not able to close the gap between the number one seeded conference team, finishing 77-53. Three Spartans were in double-digits led by Marcus Clarke (Olean, NY/Archbishop Walsh Academy) with17 points, Gemerek with 11 points and three steals, and Julian Reed (Cheektowaga, NY/Union-Endicott) with ten points and six rebounds.
The Spartans look forward to their next game on Saturday, February 1st at 1pm against Franciscan University. The game will be held in D'Youville's College Center Gym.
