Box Score Buffalo, NY- D'Youville College Center, guard Jon Gemerek (Cheektowaga, NY/ Depew) continues to play strong in his fourth consecutive game to score double digit points. Gemerek scored a game high 31 points in the team's 78-73 loss against visiting La Roche College. Gemerek was 13 for 21 from the floor and 5 for 7 at the line.
The Spartans started the game off strong with a 9-2 lead in the first 2 minutes of play. The Spartans stayed in the lead until the last four minutes of the half when La Roche tied it up at 26. At the end of the first half La Roche was up 35-29.
The Spartans fell behind in the beginning of the second half allowing La Roche to take a 47-38 lead in the first 6 minutes. The Spartans began to turn it around after Gemerek made three baskets in a row. After that the Spartans kept it close and in the last fifty seconds of the game the Spartans tied at 72-72. Unfortunately the Spartans gave up four fouls in the last minute of the game giving La Roche the opportunity to move ahead.
Also scoring double digits for the Spartans today was Julian Reed (Cheektowaga, NY/ Union- Endicott), with 14 points, and Marcus Clarke (Olean, NY/ Archbishop Walsh Academy) with 10 points.
