Hamburg, NY-A tough first-half on the road was too much to overcome and the D'Youville men's basketball team was defeated at Hilbert College 107-85.

Spartan guard Marcus Clarke (Olean, NY/Archbishop Walsh) poured in a game-high 28 points followed by Jon Gemerek (Depew, NY/Depew) with 18 points.

The second-half went far better than the opening half.  D'Youville outscored the host 51-48 in the final 20 minutes and the Spartans shot 50% from beyond the three-point arc (7-14). Overall the Spartans were 16 of 35 from the floor (45%) in final half.

The damage was done in the first-half. Hilbert shot 50% from the floor, making 23 of 46 field-goals, and went into the break up 59-34.

Julian Reed (Cheektowaga, NY/Union-Endicott) added 11 points to go with eight rebounds and three blocked shots. Conor Gallivan (Elma, NY/Iroquois) made his third start of the season, his first since December 7, and chipped in seven points.

Next on the schedule is La Roche College and they will visit the College Center Gym January 25. Start time is 1:00 p.m.
