Box Score Buffalo, NY-D'Youville College center Julian Reed (Cheektowaga, NY/Union-Endicott) continued his outstanding play putting up a career-high 31 points in the Spartans' 91-79 loss at Medaille.
Reed was 13 of 19 from the floor (2-3 from three-point) and also grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked seven shots. Over the last four games the six-foot eight-inch Spartans has averaged 25.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, 5.3 blocked shots. Over that span Reed has totaled two double-doubles and one triple-double.
"We keep playing this way the wins are going to come," said D'Youville Head coach Earl Schunk after the game. "We just have to keep giving ourselves opportunities to win and we have been doing that."
The Spartans opened the game with an early 7-2 run and went into halftime tied with the Mavericks at 42 all.
It was back and forth in the first 12 minutes of the second frame with the teams battling to one tie and nine lead changes. A Jake Maryniewski(Depew, NY/Depew) three-ball gave the Spartans a 66-65 lead with just under eight minutes to play, part of his season-high 15 points, but Medaille responded with a 13-0 and never looked back.
