Box Score Greenville, PA- Women's soccer got back in the win column with a pair of late goals to win 2-0 at Thiel College.
Elizabeth Lyons (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) figured in both goals. The sophomore forward assisted on the Nicole LaVere (Clarence, NY/Williamsville East) goal in the 73rd minute and scored the insurance tally in the 88th minute. It was the first goal of the season for both. Melissa LaVere (Clarence, NY/Williamsville East) assisted on the Lyons' marker.
The defensive group as a whole shined again, allowing just six shots. Goalkeeper
Christina Ventresca (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) made two saves for her second shutout of the season and tenth of her career.
The Spartans have allowed just one goal against in 276:09 of play this season.
"We didn't play our best tonight but good teams find a way to win," said D'Youville Head Coach Lew Potter after the match. "We are showing flashes of good play but we haven't put it all together yet."
D'Youville (2-1) will play SUNY Canton on their home field at the Riverside Athletic Complex September 7 at 8:00 p.m.
