Box Score Cresson, PA- The women's soccer team was able to pull off a 3-0 victory over Mt. Aloysius College despite poor field conditions. The three goals were scored by Melissa LaVere (Clarence, NY/Williamsville East) with her sixth goal of the season, Colleen Wiechec (North, Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) with her second goal of the season, and lastly, Terra Juda (North Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) who also had her sixth goal of the season. The assists are credited to Juda and Abby Tezak (Buffalo, NY/Nardin Academy).
D'Youville goalkeeper Christina Ventresca (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) had four saves for the Spartans increasing her shutouts for the season to ten total.
Coach Lew Potter commented on the game, "It was a great team effort in a very physical game. DJ and Abby were very good up top in the second half and Melissa in midfield was excellent."
This win is a program record with D'Youville's sixth straight win. They are also unbeaten in the last seven games. With the win the Spartans clinch the second seed in the AMCC Tournament. D'Youville receives a first-round bye and will host a semifinal game in the tournament on Wednesday, November 6.
