Oswego, NY-A young D'Youville College men's basketball team opened the new season with the tough task of playing on the home floor of the defending SUNYAC champion Oswego State Lakers. The host team defeated the visiting Spartans 122-72 in the opening round of the Max Ziel/Oswego State Tournament.

Sophomore Erik Prophet (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) scored a career-high 15 points followed by a pair of freshman that made double-digit debuts: Jon Gemerek (Cheektowaga, NY/Depew) with 11 points and Andrew Reinhardt (Ridgeway, ONT/Ridgeway-Crystal Beach) with 10 points.

D'Youville will face Medger Evers College in the consolation game tomorrow (Nov. 17) at 2:00 p.m.
