Adam Heftka was welcomed in 2021 as an assistant coach with the D'Youville men's volleyball program.

Heftka brings with him previous coaching experience at the high school and college levels. Prior to joining the Saints, Heftka spent the 2018 season as a graduate assistant coach for the women's volleyball program at Canisius College, serving alongside current D'Youville head coach Chris Krueger. Heftka's responsibilities included working with the team's setters and assisting in scouting and recruiting. The Golden Griffins' 2018 season saw the team match a program record for conference victories, finish second in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, and advance to the program's first-ever appearance in the MAAC Championship match. The campaign ended with six Griffs earning All-MAAC selections, including setter Cassidy Ceriani being a All-MAAC Second Team honoree.

Prior to joining the Blue and Gold, Heftka was the head coach for Nardin Academy's junior varsity girls' volleyball team in 2017.

Heftka played collegiately at Hilbert College for four seasons as a setter. Three of those seasons saw Heftka play under Krueger. Serving as team captain during his junior and senior years, he finished his career as the Hawks’ all-time leader in assists, also finishing top five in aces, block assists and solo blocks. Additionally, Heftka was selected to the AMCC Academic All-Conference Team four times and received the Peak Performer Award in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Outside of his accomplishments on the volleyball court, Heftka served as the Vice-President and President of Hilbert’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

The Grand Island, N.Y, native earned his bachelor's degree in digital communication and media/multimedia from Hilbert in 2017. Heftka then earned his master’s degree in physical education from Canisius in 2020.
