BUFFALO, N.Y. — D'Youville lost to Bloomsburg 7-0 on Sunday. The Saints were held to six shots, four on goal, while their
Sarah Reifsnyder made 17 saves against 24 shots on goal.
The Saints absorbed early Bloomsburg pressure in the first quarter, with
Sarah Reifsnyder making three saves as the visitors generated six shots and three penalty corners. Bloomsburg's busiest stretch came after back-to-back corners at 5:17 and 5:29, but the Saints blocked two shots and Reifsnyder stopped two attempts from Alyxandra Flick. The Saints pushed forward later in the quarter, earning three penalty corners in a 19-second span and getting a blocked shot from
Jimena Loustalot at 9:37. The quarter finished without a goal.
In the second quarter, the Saints absorbed a busy stretch in their defensive end as Bloomsburg scored at 21:31 and again at 29:35 to move in front 2-0. Earlier, Bloomsburg created the first looks of the quarter with Sophie Lawler shooting wide and Genna Bush hitting the post before Kaylyn Elliott scored off a Faith Jampo assist. The Saints answered with a penalty corner by
Chloe Burkhard at 22:01, and Reifsnyder kept them within reach with four saves over the final six minutes of the quarter. Bloomsburg added the late goal when Alyxandra Flick finished a Raegan Iasiello assist, leaving the Saints down 2-0 at halftime.
A three-goal third quarter from Bloomsburg moved the visitors ahead 5-0 after goals by Sophie Lawler, Jordan Bond and Alyxandra Flick. Reifsnyder answered part of the early pressure with consecutive saves on Alyxandra Flick and Genna Bush at 33:45 and 33:51, but Bond scored at 35:17 and Flick followed off a penalty corner sequence at 36:44. Reifsnyder added two more saves on Lawler in the 39th minute as the Saints worked through continued Bloomsburg chances. The Saints produced their best attacking sequence late in the quarter, earning a penalty corner from
Madisyn Grawl at 42:54 before Loustalot put a shot on goal that Molly Bross saved, and the quarter ended with Bloomsburg ahead 5-0.
Four penalty corners from Grawl in the first 2:37 opened the fourth quarter for the Saints, producing three
Carter Bower shots and a
Sofia Toyos attempt, but Bloomsburg kept the home side off the board with two goalkeeper saves and a defensive save by Allison Brown. Bloomsburg answered at 49:00 when Taylor Fry scored off a Sophie Lawler assist to make it 6-0.
Hallie Villavechia then faced a run of pressure and made three saves in a 24-second span, stopping shots from Fry, Ella Weaver and Faith Jampo. Villavechia added three more saves in the final minutes, but Emma Hornbaker scored off a Lexy Freed assist at 58:23, and Bloomsburg closed out the 7-0 final.
Reifsnyder recorded 14 saves over 45 minutes in goal. Bower paced the Saints with three shots, putting two on goal. Loustalot added two shots, including one on goal.
