SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — D'Youville lost to American Int'l 4-1 on Wednesday. D'Youville generated a 19-8 shot advantage and put seven shots on goal, but American Int'l scored three times in the second half to maintain the lead.
D'Youville outshot American Int'l 11-3 in the first half but went into halftime down 1-0 after an AIC goal at 23:28. Earlier, D'Youville opened with sustained pressure, getting attempts from
Ethan Robinson (Scarborough, Ontario / Neil McNeil),
Shawn Richardson (Gothenburg, Sweden / Rossall) and
Max Johnson (Erie, Pa. / Cathedral Preparatory) in the first 12 minutes, including a Johnson shot saved by the Yellowjackets.
Ewan Brodie (Jersey, United Kingdom / Hautlieu) also put a shot on frame at 21:52 before American Int'l broke through less than two minutes later. D'Youville responded with another attacking stretch after the goal, as
Finn Savage (Wrexham, Wales / Hawarden), Lennox Zapel (Hamburg, Germany) and
Dylan Danch (Erie, Pa. / Cathedral Preparatory) took shots around two corner kicks, and Savage forced another save in the final minute before the half ended with American Int'l ahead 1-0.
Robinson answered an American Int'l goal late in the second half to score his first of the season, scoring at 76:56 to bring D'Youville within 3-1. The Yellowjackets tacked on one more goal in the final ten minutes to bring the final score to 4-1.
Robinson scored a goal and led D'Youville with four shots, putting two on goal. Brodie recorded two shots, both on frame. Savage added three shots, including one on goal. Richardson also finished with three shots.
