COLUMBUS, Ohio — D'Youville lost to Ohio Dominican 3-2 on Saturday. The Saints held a 17-5 shot advantage and put 10 shots on goal, while Ohio Dominican finished with three goals on three shots on frame.
Shawn Richardson (Gothenburg, Sweden / Rossall) brought the Saints level at 1-1 with a penalty kick goal at 21:14 after Ohio Dominican had gone ahead in the 14th minute. Earlier, the Saints created the first sustained attacking stretch with corner kicks at 5:25 and 7:58, an
Ewan Brodie (Jersey, United Kingdom / Hautlieu) shot wide and an
Omar Daoudi (South Burlington, VT / South Burlington) attempt saved by Ohio Dominican. After Richardson's equalizer, the Saints continued to create chances, including two
Max Johnson (Erie, Pa. / Cathedral Preparatory) shots and a corner kick before Brodie and
Nicolas Buscaglia (Amherst, N.Y.) each put shots on frame that Bowden saved. The first half ended tied 1-1, with the Saints recording several looks on goal after conceding first.
The Saints answered an early Ohio Dominican goal in the second half when Richardson converted a penalty kick at 53:41 to tie the match at 2-2. The Saints had already tested the keeper on
Ethan Robinson's (Scarborough, Ontario / Neil McNeil) saved shot at 47:23, then followed the equalizer with a corner at 56:00 and shots from Richardson,
Luca Mansfield-Osborne (Cuffley, England / Queens) and Robinson during a physical stretch that included multiple fouls and yellow cards. The Saints continued to generate looks after Ohio Dominican's two corners in the 73rd minute, with
Karl Sjosten (Stockholm, Sweden / Campus Manilla) putting a shot on frame at 75:27 before Ohio Dominican scored to make it 3-2. The Saints pushed again late with an 86:19 corner and a Brodie shot in the 89th minute, but Ohio Dominican held on for the 3-2 final.
Richardson scored both Saints goals and led the team with five shots, putting four on frame. Brodie added three shots, including one on goal. Robinson put both of his shots on goal.
