ERIE, Pa. — D'Youville lost to Gannon 2-1 on Wednesday at McConnell Family Stadium. All three goals came after halftime, with D'Youville scoring in the 79th minute.
D'Youville's second-half response brought the match level after Gannon had moved in front, with
Lennox Zapel (Hamburg, Germany) recording the match-tying goal. Later, while the score was still 1-1, D'Youville navigated a late Gannon stretch that included two shots and four corner kicks without conceding. The closing portion included six D'Youville fouls and three cards, and over that span the score state shifted from level to a one-goal deficit.
Gannon finished with advantages in shots, 12-7, and shots on goal, 5-3, while D'Youville put three of its seven attempts on frame.
Brennan Restorick (Burlington, Ontario) made three saves for D'Youville, all part of a team total that matched Gannon's second-half work on target. D'Youville was whistled for 16 fouls and seven yellow cards, compared with 10 fouls and two yellow cards for Gannon.
Zapel scored D'Youville's goal, converting his lone shot on goal and finishing with two points.
Omar Daoudi (South Burlington, VT / South Burlington) recorded the assist and added one shot. Restorick made three saves in 45 minutes in goal.
Ewan Brodie (Jersey, United Kingdom / Hautlieu) and
Ethan Robinson (Scarborough, Ontario / Neil McNeil) each matched the team high with two shots and put one attempt on goal.
