BUFFALO, N.Y. – As the D'Youville University Athletics Department continues its call for nominations for the 2026–27 Athletics Hall of Fame Class—the fifth group to be enshrined among the university's highest athletic honors—the Saints are also taking time to reflect on the teams and individuals whose achievements have helped define the department's competitive legacy.

Among those celebrated is the 2011 D'Youville softball team, a standout group recognized as part of the 2024–25 Hall of Fame class for its championship season and lasting impact on the program.

Under the leadership of head coach Angie Churchill, the 2011 Saints delivered one of the most successful campaigns in program history, finishing the season with a 21–10 record and capturing the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship as the No. 2 seed. Churchill's leadership earned her AMCC Coach of the Year honors, capping a season defined by resilience, execution, and postseason excellence.

The Saints' success was powered by a deep and balanced roster, highlighted by dominant performances both in the circle and at the plate. Pitcher Hannah Norton anchored the staff with a standout season, earning AMCC Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-Conference recognition. Norton compiled 16 wins, struck out 146 batters, and posted a 2.51 ERA, consistently giving the Saints a competitive edge in crucial matchups.

Offensively and defensively, D'Youville also benefited from key contributions across the lineup. Rachel Cirello and Danielle Phillips each earned Second Team All-AMCC honors, rounding out a group of award-winning performances that underscored the team's depth and cohesion.

The Saints' championship run through the AMCC Tournament further solidified the team's place in program history. D'Youville opened postseason play with a tightly contested 4–3 victory over Penn State Behrend before defeating Penn State Altoona 8–5 in the semifinals. In the championship game, the Saints edged Mount Aloysius 1–0 to secure the conference title and earn a berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The 2011 team's combination of leadership, individual excellence, and postseason poise remains a defining chapter in D'Youville softball history, and its Hall of Fame recognition continues to highlight the program's tradition of success within Saints Athletics.
