COLONIA, N.J. – With the close of the regular season, the East Coast Conference has released the baseball all-conference teams earlier today.
The D'Youville University baseball was well represented, having six student-athletes make all-conference teams.
Billy Morris leads the pack, being named to the first team.
Colby Wilson,
Blaise Kolbert,
Garett Wilson,
Jakob Denall, and
Ty Graczyk were all named second team to round out the honors for the Saints.
Billy Morris, Utility – First Team All-Conference
Morris proved once again to be a constant for the team this season, both at the plate and on the mound. At the plate, Morris was second in the conference in hits (65), first in doubles (14), tied for fourth in runs scored (44), and tied for sixth in triples (2).
On the season, Morris had a season-high five hits and five RBIs at the College of Staten Island, a season-high two doubles at St. Thomas Aquinas College, and a season-high four runs scored against Chestnut Hill College.
On the mound, Morris was to go-to option for the Saints once again. Morris has an ERA of 4.23 in 66.0 innings worth of work, good for fifth best in the conference. Morris had a knack for striking out his opponents, striking out 65 batters, including 21 that were caught looking, ranking fourth and second in the respective categories.
Morris saw his best outing come early in April, pitching a complete nine inning game against the College of Staten Island where he struck out a career-high 12 batters.
On the year, Morris was named the National Colligate Baseball Writers Association East Region Pitcher of the Week and ECC Player of the Week once this season, and to the Honor Roll five times.
Colby Wilson, First Base – Second Team All-Conference
Wilson had a strong senior season with the Saints, becoming a go-to batter at the plate. Wilson ranked seventh in the conference in batting average (.364), fourth in slugging percentage (.649) and OPS (1.131) and sixth in on base percentage (.482). Though Wilson is known for his power at the plate, he also had great discipline, drawing 35 walks which was third best in the conference. Wilson finished the regular season with 56 hits and drove in 42 runs, thanks in part to his 12 homeruns which was second best in the conference.
Wilson saw early success at the start of the season, getting a season-high four hits against Southern New Hampshire University. Wilson also had a strong outing against the College of Staten Island, driving in a season-high four runs and scored a season-high three runs in the team's home series against the College of Staten Island.
On the year, Wilson was named both ECC Player of the Week and to the Honor Roll once this season.
Blaise Kolbert, Second Base – Second Team All-Conference
Kolbert had arguably his best season at the plate for the Saints, seeing his numbers increase across the board. Kolbert had a career-high in batting average (.311), hits (51), runs (29), doubles (12), RBIs (25), slugging percentage (.427), walks (33), and on base percentage (.429).
In the conference, Kolbert ranks sixth in doubles, tied for sixth in triples (2), and fifth in walks.
Kolbert saw some of his best performances come against Queens College, collecting a season-high three hits and driving in a season-high three runs. Kolbert also had a season-high two doubles against Gannon University and scored a season best four runs against the College of Staten Island.
On the year, Kolbert was named to the ECC Honor Roll once this season.
Garett Wilson, Designated Hitter – Second Team All-Conference
Wilson saw his numbers increase in his senior season across the board as well and proved to be effective for the Saints' offense. Wilson saw a career-high in batting average (.302), hits (29), runs (12), homeruns (5), slugging percentage (.521), and on base percentage (.387).
In the conference, Wilson ranks ninth in slugging percentage as well as homeruns.
Wilson's best outing of the season came against the College of Staten Island, having season-highs in hits (5), doubles (2), homeruns (2), RBIs (10), and runs scored (3).
On the year, Wilson was named to the ECC Honor Roll once this season.
Jakob Denall, Starting Pitcher – Second Team All-Conference
Denall saw vast improvement from his freshman season to his sophomore season, cutting his ERA in half and more than tripling his strikeouts. In 11 starts and pitching 58.1 innings, Denall ranks second in strikeouts within the conference with 73 including 30 strikeouts looking, which is first in the conference.
Denall had his best outing of the season come against Queens College, pitching a complete seven inning game where he had a career-high 13 strikeouts.
On the year, Denall was named to the ECC Honor Roll twice this season.
Ty Graczyk, Starting Pitcher – Second Team All-Conference
Graczyk also saw improvements in his sophomore season, improving his ERA in his second season. Starting in all 11 games appeared in, Graczyk pitched 42.1 innings, striking out 43 batters. Graczyk's 43 strikeouts ranks eighth in the conference, rounding out the three-headed monster for the Saints on the mound.
Graczyk's best outing came against Queens College, striking out a career-high seven batters in seven innings of work.
On the year, Graczyk was named to the ECC Honor Roll once this season.
The Saints return back to the ECC Baseball Championship this season, this time as the No. 4 seed. D'Youville will face top-seeded Molloy University tomorrow, May 7th, at 12 p.m. The tournament will go on throughout the week and will wrap up this Saturday in Uniondale, N.Y.
