Saints Drop Regular Season Finale vs STAC

POMONA, N.Y. — D'Youville was limited to four hits on Saturday afternoon, falling 8-0 to St. Thomas Aquinas at Clover Stadium in ECC play.

The Saints drop to 18-30 overall and 13-17 in conference action, while the Spartans improve to 26-21 (15-15 ECC) behind an 11-hit performance that featured a pair of home runs.

St. Thomas Aquinas struck early, using a three-run homer in the bottom of the first to take control of the game. The Spartans added a run in the third on an RBI double and pushed the lead to 5-0 in the fourth with a solo home run.

Ty Graczyk got the start on the mound for D'Youville, working five innings with four strikeouts and no walks. The right-hander allowed five earned runs on six hits, including two home runs. Blaise Kolbert was first out of the bullpen and delivered a scoreless inning, allowing two hits. Ryan McCarthy followed with an inning of relief, surrendering one run, while Hudson White was charged with two runs in the seventh. Matt Bradley closed the game with a strong outing, striking out three in a scoreless eighth.

The Spartans added a run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth and plated two more in the seventh to extend the margin to 8-0.

Offensively, Garett Wilson led the Saints with two hits, while Cooper Cefaratti added a double to account for D'Youville's extra-base hit. The Saints were unable to generate a breakthrough at the plate as St. Thomas Aquinas completed the shutout.

Next up for the Saints is postseason play, as they've locked in the four-seed and will face Molloy in the first round of the ECC Campionships on Thursday, May 7th.
