SAINT LEO, Fla. — Saints tennis dropped a 6-0 decision to Saint Leo University on Sunday afternoon at the Saint Leo Tennis Complex.

D'Youville moved to 5-3 on the season following the non-conference matchup against the Lions.

Saint Leo was able to seize early momentum by sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the opening point. The Saints' top pairing of Munisa Ashurbekova and Nele Herbst competed at No. 1 doubles, falling 6-2. Miranda Bosch and Erika Ismailova dropped a 6-1 decision at the No. 2 position. At No. 3 doubles, the duo of Maria Victoria Campisi and Mina Randjelovic were defeated 6-0 as the Lions secured the doubles point.

In singles play, Ashurbekova faced Candice Bernier at the No. 1 position and battled in the second set before falling 6-0, 6-4. Herbst competed at No. 2 singles, dropping a 6-1, 6-2 match, while Ismailova fell 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 3 slot.

Randjelovic showed resilience at No. 4 singles, forcing a second-set tiebreak after dropping the opening set 7-5. The match remained unfinished with Randjelovic in a second-set tiebreak when play concluded.

Bosch fell 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, and Campisi dropped a 6-0, 6-3 decision in the No. 6 position to round out the contest.

D'Youville will look to bounce back in its next match as the Saints continue their Florida road trip, taking on Rollins College tomorrow, March 9th.
