East Stroudsburg Takes Two From D'Youville In Saturday Doubleheader

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — D'Youville baseball dropped both legs of a Saturday doubleheader against East Stroudsburg University, falling 9-1 in the opener before an 8-0 setback in game two.

Despite a handful of strong individual performances, the Saints were unable to generate sustained offense against the Warriors' pitching, combining for nine hits across the two contests.

East Stroudsburg jumped out to an early advantage and never looked back in the first game of the day. The Warriors opened the scoring in the first inning and extended their lead with a two-run third before adding two more in the fourth to build a 5-1 cushion. D'Youville's lone run came in the fourth inning when Garett Wilson delivered an RBI single to left field, bringing home Blaise Kolbert to trim the deficit.

At the plate, Jake Ferris paced the Saints with a two-hit performance from the leadoff spot. Kolbert also reached base twice with a hit and a walk, while Michael Huff added a single and a walk.

On the mound, Jakob Denall worked four innings in the start, striking out two. Carson Mazur and Sean Glinski each contributed an inning of relief to close out the contest.

The Warriors carried their momentum into the second game, breaking the contest open with a three-run third inning before plating four more runs in the fourth to take a commanding lead.

D'Youville scattered four hits in the game but was unable to push a run across the plate. Ferris and Kolbert each reached base twice with a hit and a walk, while Colby Wilson and Derek Onevelo also recorded hits for the Saints.

Ryan McCarthy made the start on the mound, striking out three across four innings of work. Deryk Kulp provided two innings of relief, allowing just one run while working through traffic on the bases.

D'Youville will look to regroup as they'll get two more chances to take on East Stroudsburg tomorrow, March 8th.
