BUFFALO, N.Y. — The D'Youville University men's basketball team (7-16, 7-8 ECC) fell to No. 4 Daemen University with a final score of 67-90 at the Saints Center Gym on Sunday on Senior Day.
The Saints opened the game with a steady performance from the field, highlighted by
Elisha Warren with early layups that contributed to a total of 16 points in the paint. Despite their efforts, DYU faced a challenge in containing the Wildcats' outside shooting as the visitors connected on eight three-pointers.
Maxence Massadila provided a spark for D'Youville with a three-pointer late in the half, but the Wildcats maintained the edge, finishing the first half ahead 45–30.
DYU found a crucial momentum shift midway through the second half when Warren hit a three-pointer at 15:50, assisted by Massadila, to cut into the Wildcats' advantage. Despite the Wildcats maintaining their lead with a strong presence in the paint, the Saints showed resilience with key contributions from
Marko Milivojevic, who hit a three-pointer at the 11:50 mark, and
LaShard Lowry, Jr., who added steady scoring in the paint. The half ended with the Wildcats leading 90–67.
Massadila recorded six assists and two steals, contributing significantly to the team's playmaking. Warren led the scoring with 14 points, making six field goals, including two from beyond the arc.
Justin Moore was perfect from the free-throw line, converting all six of his attempts to add eight points.
Nathan Andrice provided defensive support with two blocks during the game.
In their next game, D'Youville will travel to face Roberts Wesleyan University on Saturday, Feb. 28. The matchup is set for 4 p.m. in Rochester, New York.
