MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — D'Youville (2-1) secured a narrow victory over Wilmington University (Delaware) (2-1) with a 5-4 win in extra innings on Saturday at the Polo Grounds, scoring four runs in the tenth inning to clinch the victory.
Defensively, sophomore
Jakob Denall led D'Youville's pitching staff with a strong start, delivering six innings with eight strikeouts while allowing only one earned run on four hits.
Eric Osterstrom contributed an inning of relief, yielding one hit and striking out a batter. Freshman
Brendan Gossling pitched a scoreless inning, facing five batters and allowing no hits.
Evan Froelich was awarded the win, pitching 1 1/3 innings and striking out one.
Blaise Kolbert tossed the final two outs of the game to capture the save.
Kolbert led the team with a standout performance, recording two hits, including a home run in the tenth inning, and driving in two runs.
Colby Wilson contributed with a crucial double, finishing with one hit and scoring a run.

Cooper Cefaratti walked and stole second, setting the stage for Kolbert's two-run homer to right field, putting the Saints ahead. Ferris and Cooper later scored on a throwing error, extending the lead. Wilmington countered with a two-run homer and a solo shot to pull within one run, but D'Youville held on for the 5-4 victory.
