MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — D'Youville (2-2) fell to Post University (2-5) in a high-scoring contest with a final score of 19-12 on Sunday at Griffith Field.
The Saints struggled to find outs early, giving up six runs in the first inning and allowing three more in the second to fall into an early 9-0 deficit. D'Youville got on the board in the fourth inning with a solo homerun by
Colby Wilson, but Post answered, bringing the score to 10-1.
D'Youville's offense came alive in the fifth inning, scoring nine runs to tie the game at 10-10.
Lucas Penner and Deryk Onevelo both scored on a series of hits and walks, with
Billy Morris and
Cooper Cefaratti contributing RBI singles. Post regained the lead 11-10 with an RBI single in the sixth and added to it in the seventh with four more runs. The Saints responded with an RBI double by Morris, making the score 15-11 through seven.
D'Youville made a comeback attempt in the eighth inning when Cefaratti doubled and then scored on an overthrow to third, but not before Post had scored three more runs, extending its lead to 18-12. Post added one more run in the ninth on a sacrifice fly, sealing a 19-12 victory over the Saints.
For DYU, Morris ended the day with two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs.
Colby Wilson made an impact with the bat by hitting a home run, driving in two RBI's and scoring twice. Cefaratti recorded three hits, including a double, and scored two runs, adding a stolen base to his performance. Onevelo demonstrated patience at the plate, drawing three walks and scoring three times.
The Saints leave Myrtle Beach splitting their first four contests of the 2026 campaign, finishing the weekend with a record of 2-2.
Next up for D'Youville, they'll travel to Flemington, N.J. for four games against Southern New Hampshire University on Feb. 28
