MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — D'Youville University baseball (1-1) opened the 2026 season with a doubleheader against Chestnut Hill College (1-1) on Friday, securing a decisive 19-8 victory in the first game before falling 7-3 in the second.
D'Youville's opening game was highlighted by a nine-run third inning, featuring two home runs and five doubles. Senior
Billy Morris delivered a standout performance, scoring four runs and hitting a home run, while pitching seven innings with six strikeouts.
This victory marked a milestone for Morris, as he set a school record with his 15th career win as a pitcher for the Saints. Redshirt Junior
Cooper Cefaratti had an effective day at the plate, tallying three hits and three RBIs, including two doubles.
Kevin Del Vecchio contributed two hits, including a home run, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Garrett Wilson added a double and drove in three runs, further bolstering the Saints' offensive efforts. D'Youville held a commanding 15-1 lead in the 5th inning, rallying for four more runs in the ninth to complete a 19-8 win in game one.
In the second game, D'Youville faced challenges on the mound, allowing six earned runs in just 1/3 of an inning. Saints' Junior
Mihir Manerikar provided a strong relief performance, pitching 6 and 2/3 innings and allowing only one earned run while striking out five.
Jake Hollins made an impact with the bat, recording his first career home run, which also marked his 100th career hit, driving in one run and scoring twice.
