BUFFALO, N.Y. — D'Youville UNiversity (7-15, 7-7 ECC) secured a 65-60 victory over Mercy University on Sunday afternoon at Saints Center Gym.
The Saints started strong with a decisive opening, quickly establishing control through efficient shooting and solid defense. An
Elisha Warren three-pointer at 17:01 gave it a 7–2 lead, and the team maintained momentum with contributions from
Maxence Massadila, who sank a three-pointer at 9:01. DYU capitalized on its opportunities in the paint, outscoring the Mavs 18–10 inside, and closed the first half with a 36–22 advantage.
D'Youville maintained its lead during the second half, highlighted by significant contributions from Warren and
Sean Reynolds. Warren's assist to
Nathan Andrice at 19:03 set the tone early, while a Reynolds three-pointer at 17:04 helped keep the Mavs at bay. Despite the Mavs' attempts to close the gap, including a late push at :28, D'Youville secured a 65–60 advantage at the end of the half.
Dawson Matsell collected 11 rebounds and added five assists. Warren scored 14 points and recorded six assists while blocking two shots.
Trayton Trice posted 18 points and converted five-of-six free throw attempts. Massadila contributed with three assists and five points.
The next challenge for D'Youville is a home game against Daemen University on Sunday, Feb. 22. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. in Buffalo, New York.
