Saints Triumph Over Redhawks on Wednesday Night

BUFFALO, N.Y. — D'Youville (8-10, 5-5 ECC) defeated Roberts Wesleyan (4-10, 1-5 ECC), 53-39, at Saints Center Gym. D'Youville capitalized on a strong start, leading by 12 points after the first quarter, and maintained control with a dominant 50-32 rebounding edge. Despite a late push from the Redhawks, D'Youville's bench contributed 23 points to secure the league victory.
D'Youville opened the game with an assertive performance, quickly establishing control with a series of successful plays. The team capitalized early on a fast-break layup by Megan Fedor (Elmira, N.Y. / Elmira) at 6:48 to seize momentum. Ava Pearson's (Colonie, N.Y. / Colonie) assist on Molly O'Toole's (Rochester, N.Y. / Aquinas Institute) 3-pointer at 3:15 further extended their lead, demonstrating efficient ball movement and precision shooting. Despite a brief response from the Redhawks with a 3-pointer by Sarah Seyfang at 1:56, D'Youville maintained their dominance. The quarter concluded with D'Youville leading 17–5.
D'Youville maintained control in the second quarter with a decisive 7-0 run, highlighted by a fast-break layup from Trinity Small (West Chester Township, Ohio / Purcell Marian) at 8:29. Molly O'Toole extended the lead with a three-pointer at 5:56, assisted by Xanthippi Karatasiou (Katerini, Greece / Kontariotissa). Alyssa Neumann (Silverdale, Wash. / Central Kitsap) further increased the advantage with a jumper at 12 seconds remaining, assisted by O'Toole. D'Youville out-rebounded the Redhawks 16-8 and ended the quarter ahead 28-13.
D'Youville seized control in the third quarter with a decisive shooting display, highlighted by a series of three-pointers. Ava Pearson and Molly O'Toole each connected from beyond the arc, with O'Toole's three-pointer at 7:17 extending the lead significantly. The team maintained defensive pressure, forcing turnovers and limiting the Redhawks to just three field goals in the quarter. D'Youville concluded the quarter leading 45–22, with an impressive defensive rebound and block in the final minute. The quarter ended with D'Youville victorious, 45–22.
D'Youville held their ground in the fourth quarter, despite a surge from the Redhawks. Allie Hall (Rochester, N.Y. / Bishop Kearney) connected on a jumper at 7:16, and Alyssa Neumann's back-to-back layups at 4:43 and 3:58 helped maintain their lead. D'Youville's defense was pivotal, with Neumann blocking a layup attempt at 3:41, which limited the Redhawks' scoring opportunities. The game concluded with a final score of 53-39 in favor of D'Youville.
Molly O'Toole recorded her fourth double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, including three 3-pointers. Alyssa Neumann was perfect from the field, scoring 10 points on 5-for-5 shooting and adding two blocks. Trinity Small contributed defensively with two steals and two points. Allie Hall scored eight points and collected six rebounds in the game.
In their next game, D'Youville will travel to face the College of Staten Island on Friday, Feb. 6. The matchup is set for 5:30 p.m. at Staten Island, N.Y.
