Saints Escape Flushing with the Win

QUEENS, N.Y. — D'Youville (4-12, 4-4 ECC) secured a 79-75 the overtime victory over Queens College on Sunday at Fitzgerald Gymnasium. 

The Saints opened the game with a strong offensive start, highlighted by Sean Reynolds knocking down consecutive three-pointers at 18:03 and 17:28, which helped establish an early lead. Maxence Massadila contributed with a fast-break layup at 15:47, pushing them to a 10–5 advantage. The Knights managed to stay close, tying the game several times, but DYU consistently regained control.

In the closing minutes, D'Youville's defensive efforts, including a block and rebound by Marko Milivojevic at 1:37, helped maintain their edge. Nathan Andrice knocked down a free throw with four seconds left sealed the half, and the Saints led 40–37 over Queens at the end of the first half.

D'Youville took control early in the second half with a scoring surge led by a Dawson Matsell layup at 18:01, giving them a narrow lead. Reynolds extended the advantage with a three-pointer at 15:44, assisted by Matsell, pushing the score to 48–41. Despite their efforts, DYU faced a resilient Knights team that kept the game tight, tying the score at 68–68 with 17 seconds left. The half concluded with D'Youville and the Knights locked at 68, as the second half came to a dramatic close.

D'Youville outscored the Knights in the overtime frame, 11-7. It was a Reynolds three-pointer with just over two minutes remaining that helped the Saints pull away.

Reynolds scored 22 points, including six three-pointers, and contributed seven rebounds. Matsell added 17 points and recorded six assists, along with two steals. Elisha Warren finished with 17 points, converting 14-of-17 free throws, and collected 10 rebounds. Andrice posted three blocks and two steals while adding seven points.

The next challenge for the Saints is a road game against No. 2 Daemen University this Saturday, January 24th, at 12 p.m.
