ITHACA, N.Y. – The D'Youville University women's indoor track and field team continued its indoor season on Saturday at the Cornell Southern Tier Invitational, posting several strong performances against a competitive field at Barton Hall.
Jenna Capolupo led the Saints with an impressive showing in the long jump, finishing second overall with a mark of 5.51 meters. Her performance stood as DYU's top result of the meet and came against a field that featured multiple Division I competitors.
D'Youville turned in solid efforts in the short sprints, led by Neveah Granderson-Florence, who ran 8.10 seconds in the 60-meter dash before returning to post a time of 46.04 seconds in the 300 meters.
The Saints showed depth in the 500-meter dash, placing three athletes inside the top eight. Tayden Persons paced the group with a time of 1:30.81, followed by Robin Kratky at 1:31.98 and Taylor Bond at 1:32.12.
In the middle-distance events, Sokhna Diagne led DYU in the 800 meters with a time of 2:38.23, while Sienna Uebelhoer, Andrea Marquina, and Cecilia Cowen also completed the race for the Saints. Elaina Williams guided the Saints in the mile, finishing eighth overall in 5:45.59, with Lilianna Peters close behind.
Peters also delivered a strong performance in the 3000 meters, placing ninth overall with a time of 11:28.32, marking one of the top distance results of the day for D'Youville.
In the field events, freshman Nicole Lewis recorded a 4.42-meter effort in the long jump. Kylee Jones led the Saints in the shot put with a mark of 8.73 meters and followed with a 9.13-meter throw in the weight throw.
The Saints will look to build on these performances as they continue indoor competition at the Brockport Invitational on January 17th.
