ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Making the short trip down the I-90, the D'Youville University men's soccer team fell to Roberts Wesleyan University by the score of 3-1 Saturday afternoon.
 
The Redhawks came out with two shots within the first 10 minutes of the contest, but Matthew Solorio turned them away. The Saints (1-4-2, 0-1-1 ECC) had an opportunity in the 13th minute to put one on the board with Charlie Outram having a shot on target but was turned away. RWU got the first goal of the game in the 17th minute to take the early 1-0 lead. D'Youville had a good look at net in the 45th minute with a shot from Konrad Homberg but was turned away as well.
 
In the second half, the Redhawks pushed their lead to two goals, scoring one in the 53rd minute. Not long after, the Saints got on the board with a penalty goal from Dylan Danch to make it 2-1 in the 56th minute. Omar Daoudi had a good look to tie things up in the 67th minute but the Redhawk defense denied the opportunity. RWU made it a 3-1 contest in the 77th minute to help put the game out of reach.
 
With the two-goal deficit, the Saints kept the offensive pressure, getting shots on goal from Jonathan Gabriel, Daoudi, and Danch in the final eight minutes of the game but none were able to find the back of the net.
 
Solorio went the distance in net, making two saves on five attempts.
 
The Saints will be back in action next Saturday, October 4th, as they host the College of Staten Island at 3 p.m.
