Post Named DYU Women's Volleyball Head Coach

BUFFALO, N.Y. – D'Youville University Athletics and Vice President for Athletics and Planning, Ona Halladay, have announced Allison Post as the new women's volleyball head coach.

"I am thrilled to have Allison take over as the leader of our Saints Women's Volleyball program," Halladay said. "Allison has a deep understanding of Division II athletics and the ECC. It is evident that she embraces the responsibility of supporting young women in their athletic, academic, and social endeavors. I am confident that she is going to continue the trajectory that the program is on. Great things ahead for our Saints!"

"It's undeniable that D'Youville has made remarkable strides as an athletics department and university," Post said when asked about what made DYU and the head coaching position appealing. "The level of competition, facility upgrades, campus community, and successful academic programs are giving the school a significant edge in Buffalo. I am excited to join a department that prioritizes the interests and well-being of student-athletes both on and off the court. With the team's recent ECC Championship title, the program is poised for continued success. Additionally, returning to Buffalo to reconnect with my support systems and the volleyball community here was a clear choice. I have built an incredible network in Western New York that will inspire me to unlock my full potential while also empowering the program to reach its full potential."

Post comes to D'Youville after spending on season at the University of Rochester as an assistant coach. At the U of R, Post helped coach one All-University Athletics Association honoree, one AVCA All-Region 3 Honorable Mention, and four CSC Academic All-District selections.

Prior to her arrival at the U of R, Post spent seven seasons at nearby Daemen University, five as player and two as a graduate assistant coach. In her two seasons as a coach, Post helped guide the Wildcats to two ECC Championships and NCAA Division II Tournament appearances. She saw 12 players earn All-ECC honors as well as a pair being named All-American. As a player, Post saw action in 86 matches where she had 565 kills, 432 digs, 52 blocks, and 48 aces. Post had her best season as a player during her junior year, leading the team with 241 kills and helped Daemen to an ECC Championship and an appearance into the Elite Eight, a first in the program's history.

"As a former player and coach in the ECC, I possess a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed both in the conference and in the region," Post said on her familiarity within the conference and region. "I am committed to providing our student-athletes with the essential tools they need to thrive not only as student-athletes, but as young women. By leveraging my own diverse experiences, I can implement personalized strategies that empower our team to achieve success together."

For those that know Post and her coaching style, she is one that adjusts to the type of player each one is, as everyone and their play style is different. Post wants to be able to connect with her players on a deeper level to help better understand how each player ticks and for her to find the best ways to support them.

"My coaching style is flexible and changes to fit each player," said Post. "I really aim to build relationships that extend beyond the court, helping me get to know them as individuals. This connection allows me to find the best ways to support each player. Since we all learn and retain information differently, I make it a priority to understand those unique styles and adapt my coaching to suit them. Overall, I'd say you can expect to see a lot of passion and competitiveness from me!"

A native of Windsor, Calif., Post earned her bachelor's degree in business administration with a specialization in sports management from Daemen in the spring of 2021 and her master's degree in leadership and innovation in the spring of 2024.

"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Ona Halladay, Bill Morris, and the rest of the D'Youville administration for their confidence in me to lead the program during this pivotal time," Post added. "I am excited to build on last year's success and transform D'Youville volleyball into a championship-caliber program, both on and off the court. D'Youville truly is the place to be, and I'm honored to be a part of the Saints family!"
