Saints Close Out Weekend With 3-0 Loss to FDU

TEANECK, N.J. – The D'Youville University Men's Volleyball team closed out their weekend roadtrip with a 3-0 loss to FDU on Saturday afternoon.

Set One
The Knights got out to a fast start in set one jumping ahead 9-3. The Saints slowly worked their way back reaching a score of 13-8 following kills from Ian De Wilde (Lockport, N.Y. / Starpoint) and Spencer Boakye (Union, N.J. / Union), but FDU kept their foot on the gas going on another 6-1 run to move ahead 18-9. With FDU at 20, The Saints started to come back recording three kills in-a-row to bring the game to 20-14, but despite final kills from Tymek Brzoza (Tychy, Poland / NLO Jastrzebski Wegiel) and Ethan Robinson (Scarborough, Ontario / Neil McNeil) the Knights would take set one 25-18.

Set Two
D'Youville got the jump in set two moving ahead 5-3, but a four-point run from FDU ended the Saints success as they took the 7-5 lead. From there, the Knights continued to push on offense moving ahead 23-15. The Saints got three back following a kill from Jacob Malak (Wales, Wisc. / Kettle Moraine) along with two FDU errors to bring the score to 23-18, but the Knights would take the final two points to take the set 25-18.  

Set Three
Kills from Tymek Brzoza and Jacob Malak propelled the Saints to a 5-1 lead in set three, but again, the Knights quickly had an answer tying the game at five. From there, FDU controlled the game until they led 19-15. Kills form Jacob Malak, Spencer Boakye, and Randy Adorno (Bayamon, Puerto Rico / Winter Park) along with two FDU errors pushed the Saints ahead at 20-19 and another kill from De Wilde kept them in the lead at 22-21, but the Knights offense did not let up and they took set three 25-22 and the match 3-0.

Up Next
The D'Youville University Men's Volleyball team returns to Buffalo for their final weekend of regular season play. The Saints will head across town to Daemen University on Friday for a 7:00 PM matchup before hosting the Wildcats on Saturday for Senior Day at 4:00 PM.
