Saints Suffer Tough Loss to FDU on the Road

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Men's Volleyball team dropped a hard-fought match 3-1 to FDU on Friday night.

Set One
The Knights got off to a fast start leading 14-10. Kills from Randy Adorno (Bayamon, Puerto Rico / Winter Park) and Ethan Robinson (Scarborough, Ontario / Neil McNeil) put the Saints within two at 14-12. FDU put up a seven-point run to extend their lead to 21-12. The Saints worked stay in the set going on a 4-1 run, but the Knights would go on to take set one 25-17.

Set Two
D'Youville got off to the quick lead in set two jumping ahead 6-3 following kills from Ian De Wilde (Lockport, N.Y. / Starpoint) and Tymek Brzoza (Tychy, Poland / NLO Jastrzebski Wegiel) along with a handful of FDU errors. The Saints continued to climb as the score reached 12-7 following another kill from De Wilde. FDU took the lead at 16-15 and the lead went back-and-forth from there until FDU tied the set at 34. Back-to-back errors from the Knights gave the Saints the 36-34 win in set two.

Set Three
The Saints continued their strong offense as they began the third set up 9-6 following a kill from Randy Adorno and an FDU error. The Knights fought back scoring five in-a-row to take the 11-9 lead. D'Youville got back on top, but FDU continued to fight until they lead 20-16. As the Knights continued to climb, kills from Ty Parker (Syracuse, N.Y. / Jamesville-Dewitt) and Ian De Wilde helped keep the Saints in the match, but the Knights would take set three 25-22.

Set Four
D'Youville did not let up and took the 13-10 lead after Tymek Brzoza and Randy Adorno provided back-to-back kills. FDU immediately answered with an 8-1 run to move ahead 18-14. From there the Saints worked to catch up, capitalizing on FDU's errors, but the Knights offense kept moving forward and they took set four 25-19 and the match 3-0.
