Volleyball Starts Weekend with 3-0 Loss to RV NJIT

NEWARK, NJ. – The D'Youville University Men's Volleyball team fell to a RV NJIT squad 3-0 on Saturday afternoon on the road.

Set One
NJIT got ahead quicky jumping up 12-8, but kills from Tymek Brzoza (Tychy, Poland), Skyler Tutor (St. Cloud, FL / St. Cloud), and Ethan Robinson (Toronto, Canada) along with a few Highlander errors helped the Saints fight their way back to trail 17-15. Gameplay continued as another kill from Brzoza and a Highlander error brought the Saints within one at 24-23. The Highlanders would take the final point of the set to win set one 25-23.

Set Two
NJIT got on top again in game two, but two kills from Ian De Wilde (Lockport, N.Y. / Starpoint) threatened as the Saints trailed 3-2. From there, the Highlanders found their rhythm expanding their lead to 19-6. Kills from De Wilde, Brzoza, Tutor, and Robinson helped keep the Saints alive, but the Highlanders did not let up and took set two 25-13.

Set Three
The Saints took the lead in set three as a kill from Spencer Boakye (Union, N.J. / Union) put D'Youville ahead 6-5. The Highlanders immediately fought back as they retook the lead and climbed until the score reached 18-10. Tymek Brzoza recorded the kill in the next point to bring the score to 18-11. NJIT retook control reaching 23-13, but a kill from Ethan Robinson and two Highlander errors kept the game going. NJIT would secure the final point of the set to win 25-16 and the match 3-0.
