ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Men's Volleyball team closed out their weekend on the road with a 3-1 victory over Dominican University.
D'Youville University 3 at Dominican University of New York 1– (25-27, 25-20, 26-24, 25-20)
Set One
Gameplay began close with the Chargers holding a tight 6-5 lead. An error from Dominican and a kill from
Tymek Brzoza (Tychy, Poland) gave D'Youville the 7-6 advantage and a kill from
Jacob Malak (Wales, Wisc. / Kettle Moraine) along with a Charger error pushed D'Youville ahead 9-7. Dominican again fought back to regain the lead and both teams continued their fight to hold the advantage. The Saints seemed to have the upper hand at 24-24 following a kill from Brzoza and a Dominican error, but the Chargers earned the next three points to take set one 27-25.
Set Two
Dominican got out to a fast start in set two jumping up 5-1, but the Saints fought back going on an 8-1 run featuring kills from
Jacob Malak and
Ethan Robinson (Toronto, Canada) along with a service ace from
Ty Parker (Syracuse, N.Y. / Jamesville-Dewitt) to go up 10-6. From there, D'Youville held the lead for the remainder of the set. Dominican fought to stay close getting within three at 23-20, but another kill from Robinson and a Dominican error gave the Saints the 25-20 win in set two.
Set Three
Dominican again took the 7-5 lead to start the third set, but back-to-back kills from
Ethan Robinson tied the game up. Dominican fought to retake the lead, but D'Youville managed to gain control jumping ahead 12-11 following two Charger errors and a kill from
Skyler Tutor (St. Cloud, FL / St. Cloud). Dominican's offense continued to fight as they retook the lead and held it until the score reached 22-20. Kills from Brzoza and Robinson gave the Saints back the advantage and a final kill from Tutor along with a Charger error gave the Saints the 26-24 win in set three.
Set Four
It was a big 10-2 run for D'Youville that gave them a commanding 15-8 lead in set four featuring kills from
Ethan Robinson and
Ty Parker. Kills from
Jacob Malak and
Tymek Brzoza along with a service ace from
Skyler Tutor helped the Saints climb as they reach a 20-15 lead. Dominican fought to stay in the match trailing by two at 21-19, but four Chargers errors gave the Saints the 25-20 win in set four and the 3-1 match win.

The Saints are back to NEC play next weekend. D'Youville will host LIU for their Saints for Saints game on Friday, April 4th starting at 7:00 PM. The Saints will then host LIU again on Saturday, April 5th at 4:00 PM.
