BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Men's Volleyball team defeated Roberts Wesleyan University in a thrilling five set match on Monday night for the second time this season.

 D'Youville University 2 vs Roberts Wesleyan University 1 – (25-19, 19-25, 30-28,19-25, 15-11)
Set One
Matchplay started close as a kill from Ian De Wilde (Lockport, N.Y. / Starpoint) tied the score at seven.  A Redhawk error gave the Saints the lead and kills from Jacob Malak (Wales, Wisc. / Kettle Moraine), Ian De Wilde, and Skyler Tutor (St. Cloud, FL / St. Cloud) allowed the Saints to pull ahead as they led 12-9. D'Youville continued to climb as kills from Malak, Tutor, and Randy Adorno (Bayamon, Puerto Rico / Winter Park) put the Saints ahead 23-19. Ian De Wilde recorded the final two kills for the Saints as they took set one 25-19.

Set Two
Roberts Wesleyan took the lead to begin set two jumping out to an 11-7 lead. The Redhawks continued to climb, but D'Youville got within one at 15-14 following a kill from Adorno. Roberts gained back momentum moving towards 25 and despite two kills from Skyler Tutor, the Redhawks took set two 25-19.

Set Three
The Redhawks did not lose momentum and carried their strong offense into the third set leading 11-7. Kills from Spencer Boakye (Union, N.J. / Union), Ian De Wilde, and Tymek Brzoza (Tychy, Poland) brought the Saints back into the match as they tied the game at 13. The Redhawks took back control and held it until the Saints once again tied the game at 20. From there the lead went back and forth between teams until back-to-back kills from Tymek Brzoza gave the Saints the 30-28 win in set three.

Set Four
D'Youville kept the offense rolling into set four as they took a strong 10-8 lead, but the Redhawks scored two in-a-row to tie the game at 10. From there the Redhawks took control, but the Saints stayed in the fight to keep the score close. D'Youville tied the game at 16 following a kill from Tutor and two Redhawk errors, but Roberts put together two runs to propel them to a 25-19 win in set four.

Set Five
The fifth set started at a 4-4 tie, but a five-point run from the Saints gave them the 9-4 advantage. The Redhawks threatened a comeback scoring four in-a-row to trail by two, but three Redhawks errors pushed the Saints ahead 14-9. Roberts Wesleyan got two points back, but a final error from the Redhawks gave the Saints the 15-11 win in the final set and the 3-2 match win.

The Saints begin NEC Conference play on the road this upcoming weekend. D'Youville will travel to play Saint Francis University on Friday at 7:00 PM followed by another match on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
