FROSTBURG, Md. -Opening up East Coast Conference play, the D'Youville University men's lacrosse team fell to Frostburg State University Saturday afternoon by a score of 10-3.
The Saints (4-5, 0-1 ECC) were led offensively by
Obrigh Tallchief (Irving, N.Y./ Lake Shore) with a pair of goals with
Carsyn Kent (Whitby, Ontario/Donald A. Wilson Secondary) adding the other goal.
Casey Berns (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) and
Cameron Fogarty (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) led the team in groundballs, each picking up five.
Christian Cliff (Toronto, Ontario/Lakeshore Collegiate Institute) led the team with four caused turnovers.
Tallchief go the scoring going in the game, coming just six minutes into the contest. The Bobcats answered soon after, but Tallchief added his second goal at the 8:10 mark of the first quarter off the assist from
Stefano Evan (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal). FSU quickly grabbed the momentum, answering six unanswered goal spanning from late in the first quarter and going until the third quarter.
DYU did get back into the game in the early goings of the fourth quarter as Kent found the back of the net off the assist from
Suman Ramlall (Atlanta, Ga./Grayson) to make it 7-3 with 11:47 left in regulation. From there, the Bobcats scored three more goals to put the game out of reach.
Berns went the distance in net, tying the program record of saves in a game with 24.
The Saints will be back in action next Saturday, March 22nd, as they host No. 14 Mercy University for a 2 p.m. game.
