BUFFALO, N.Y. — In an exhibition tune-up, the D'Youville University men's basketball team defeated Fredonia State University Wednesday evening by a score of 86-68.
D'Youville opened the first half with strong defensive plays, including five blocks, which set the tone early.
Justin Moore contributed significantly with a series of pivotal rebounds and a layup, pushing the Saints to an early lead. Fredonia struggled with turnovers, committing 11, which D'Youville capitalized on to extend their advantage.
Nathan Andrice was instrumental in maintaining the momentum for D'Youville, scoring consistently in the paint. Despite Fredonia's efforts to close the gap with three-pointers, the Saints maintained a steady lead. The half concluded with D'Youville ahead 35-25.
D'Youville executed a dominant second half, significantly widening their lead over Fredonia.
Elisha Warren was instrumental, contributing multiple three-pointers, including a crucial one at the 7:19 mark that helped maintain momentum. Supported by consistent offensive plays from
Sean Reynolds and Moore, D'Youville ended the game with a commanding 86-68 advantage.
Warren led the effort with 27 points, hitting nine of 14 from the field, including five three-pointers, and nearly achieved a double-double with nine rebounds. Reynolds contributed 13 points and three assists, connecting on three three-pointers. Moore scored 13 points and secured eight rebounds while blocking two shots.
LaShard Lowry, Jr. facilitated the offense with seven assists and added four points from the free-throw line.
The Saints will play for real on Friday, November 14th, when the head to the nation's capital for the ECC/CACC Tip-Off Challenge where they will play Goldey-Beacom College at 5 p.m.
