PAINESVILLE, Ohio — Traveling west, the D'Youville University men's basketball team fell to Lake Erie College by a score of 92-76 Wednesday evening.
The Saints opened the game with a quick three-pointer from
Dawson Matsell, assisted by
Trayton Trice, at 19:38, setting an early tone.
Elisha Warren added a fast-break layup at 17:58, leveling the score at 10-10. By the half's end, DYU trailed 44-26.
D'Youville staged a determined offensive effort in the second half, highlighted by a series of key three-pointers, including
Sean Reynolds' long-range shot at 14:25 and
Kevin Thompson's contribution at 12:13. Despite an early deficit, the Saints' bench played a significant role, adding 20 points to the team's total and keeping the contest competitive. The Storm maintained their lead through consistent scoring in the paint and a strong transition game. The half concluded with DYU outscoring LEC 50–48, but the Storm held on to win 92–76 as the game ended.
Reynolds scored 16 points, including four four-pointers, and added six assists with seven rebounds. Warren led the team with 21 points, converting nine field goals and adding two free throws. Thompson contributed 13 points, making all three of his three-point attempts and collecting three steals.
Dut Kuol provided a defensive presence with two blocks.
In their next game, D'Youville will travel the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown on Saturday, Nov. 22. Tip is set to tip off at 5:30 p.m.
