Brua and Stricklin Lead Saints in 36–10 Dual Defeat Against Gannon

D'Youville women's wrestling produced two convincing individual victories Sunday afternoon, highlighted by strong performances from Alexis Brua and Eliza Stricklin, as the Saints fell 36–10 to Gannon in dual action.

Sedillo opened the dual at 103 pounds with the most competitive match of the evening. She battled through a back-and-forth contest that remained tight from start to finish, exchanging scrambles and defending late pressure before dropping a narrow 6-6 criteria decision. Her effort helped set an early tone for the Saints to gain a point.

At 124 pounds, Brua delivered one of the strongest performance of the dual on behalf of the Saints. She set an aggressive tone early, pushing the pace with clean level changes and well-timed takedowns that consistently put her opponent on the defensive. Brua strung together multiple scoring opportunities and converted take downs to control the match up. Her pressure never slowed, and she closed out the bout with a 10-0 technical fall in 2:59. The win provided an early spark for D'Youville and highlighted Brua's potential in the Saints lineup.

The Saints closed the dual with another strong performance at 207 pounds, where Stricklin stepped onto the mat and seized control. She scored quickly off an early takedown and maintained her advantage by working directly into a offensive position. Stricklin stayed patient as she tightened her hold, eventually turning her opponent and earning the fall at 1:59. The victory capped the day on a high note for D'Youville and added five more points to the team score.

Despite the overall team result, the performances from Brua and Stricklin stood out as major positives for the Saints. Both wrestlers showcased technical discipline, pace, and finishing ability that the coaching staff will look to build on as the team moves deeper into its competitive schedule. Their efforts served as important momentum builders in a dual where bright moments were limited but meaningful.
