BUFFALO, N.Y. – With the winter sports season just around the corner, the D'Youville University women's wrestling team has announced their schedule for the upcoming season.
The season features 11 dates and it all start on November 2nd as the team travels across the boarder to compete in the McMaster Open for a preseason tune-up. The Saints will then travel west and compete in the Adrian Duals (Nov. 8) and then make the trip down the I-90 to face Gannon University in a dual on November 13th. The first month on actions concludes when the team makes the trip out to Ohio for the John Carroll Duals (Nov. 23). DYU will have one date of competition come December when the team travels down to Pennsylvania to compete in the Alvernia Open.
To ring in the new year, D'Youville will travel back over the boarder to compete in the Brock Open (Jan. 10) and then head back out to Ohio for the Mount Union Open (Jan. 18). The Saints will then head back home for the D'Youville Tri-Match where they will host Western New England University and Buffalo State University on January 24th. The regular season will conclude at the Bobcat Open, hosted by Frostburg State University, on February 7th.
After the conclusion of the regular season, all focus will turn to the NCAA Regional Qualifier. The two-day event (Feb. 21-22) will be hosted by Elmira College. From there, the Saints will have the opportunity to compete in the inaugural NCAA Championships, held March 6-7, in Coralville, Iowa.
D'Youville held a dual record of 5-9 a year ago, placed fourth as a team at regionals, and had five national qualifiers under the direction of head coach
Carlene Sluberski who is entering her third season leading the Saints.
