Men’s Volleyball Earns First Win of Season Against Dominican

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Men's Volleyball team earned their first win of the season is a decisive 3-0 victory over Dominican University on Saturday afternoon.

Set One
Matchplay started close in the first set with the score tied at 10-10, but kills from Jacob Malak (Wales, Wisc. / Kettle Moraine) and Ty Parker (Syracuse, N.Y. / Jamesville-Dewitt) pulled D'Youville ahead 13-11. D'Youville continued to climb and a kill from Tymek Brzoza (Tychy, Poland / NLO Jastrzebski Wegiel) put the Saints at set point leading 24-19. The Chargers got two back trying to stay in the match, but a final kill from Jacob Malak gave the Saints the 25-21 win in set one.

Set Two
D'Youville took the early lead in set two jumping ahead 6-2 following kills from Ian De Wilde (Lockport, N.Y. / Starpoint) and Skyler Tutor (St. Cloud, FL / St. Cloud). The Saints extended their lead to 19-11 following a kill from Jacob Malak and a Charger error. Kills from Tymek Brzoza and Jacob Malak kept the Saints in the lead and three final errors from the Chargers gave the Saints the 25-17 win in set two.

Set Three
The Chargers still had some fight left in them as the third set began with a 9-9 tie. Ian De Wilde and Ethan Robinson (Toronto, Canada) delivered back-to-back kills to put the Saints up by two. D'Youville held the lead until the Chargers worked their way back to tie the set at 17. Aagin, back-to-back kills from De Wilde and Parker gave the Saints the advantage and they would hold the lead until a final kill from Tymek Brzoza gave the Saints the 25-22 win in set three and the 3-0 match win in their home opener.
