IRVINE, CALIF. – The D'Youville University Men's Volleyball team continued their west coast campaign suffering a 3-0 loss to Concordia University Irvine on Saturday night.

Set One
Matchplay started close between the Saints and Golden Eagles as
Skyler Tutor (St. Cloud, FL / St. Cloud) recorded a kill to put the score at 7-4 in CUI's favor. The Golden Eagles put together a six-point run to extend their lead to 13-4, but kills from Tutor and
Ian De Wilde (Lockport, N.Y. / Starpoint) along with a service ace from
Jacob Malak (Wales, Wisc. / Kettle Moraine) stopped the CUI momentum. D'Youville worked to stay in the set, but the Golden Eagles continued to extend their lead until they took the first set 25-15.
Set Two
It was the Saints who jumped out to the early 5-4 lead in set two, but the Golden Eagles quickly put together a comeback to take the lead. The Saints fought to try to regain the upper hand and came within two at 18-16 following a kill from
Ian De Wilde and a service ace from
Tymek Brzoza (Tychy, Poland). Matchplay continued with the Golden Eagles maintaining a tight lead as they reached game point at 24-21. An error from CUI and a kill from
Randy Adorno (Bayamon, Puerto Rico / Winter Park) put the Saints behind by one, but the Golden Eagles would earn the final point to take set two 25-23.
Set Three
The Golden Eagles continued their momentum into the third and final set of the night after recording a five-point run to take the 15-7 lead. Kills from Adorno, Malak, and
Ethan Robinson (Toronto, Canada) along with two Golden Eagles errors helped the Saints get within two at 15-12. D'Youville managed to work in points but was unable to put together a run to mount a full comeback and CUI took the third set 25-21 and the match 3-0.
