LOS ANGELES, CALIF. – The D'Youville University Men's Volleyball team opened up their 2025 season on the west coast against the University of Southern California on Friday night. The Saints fell 3-0 to the Trojans.

Set One
Sophomore Skyler Tutor (St. Cloud, FL / St. Cloud) recorded the first kill of the season for the Saints to tie the game 1-1 against the Trojans. USC jumped ahead 8-3, but kills from Randy Adorno (Bayamon, Puerto Rico / Winter Park) and Ian De Wilde (Lockport, N.Y. / Starpoint) along with service aces from Adorno and Tymek Brzoza (Tychy, Poland / NLO Jastrzebski Wegiel) helped tie the game at 10-10. D'Youville took their first lead of the game at 12-11 following an ace from De Wilde. After the Trojans tied the score at 12, Skyler Tutor came up with another big kill to put the Saints ahead again. As the Trojans retook the lead, the Saints continued to fight tying the game at 15 following a kill from Jacob Malak (Wales, Wisc. / Kettle Moraine). USC earned the next point and extended their lead to 24-18. The Saints reached 19 on a USC serving error, but the Trojans earned the final point giving them the 25-19 win in set one.

Set Two
The Trojans came out strong in set two jumping out to a quick 7-3 lead. Spencer Boakye (Union, N.J. / Union) recorded back-to-back kills to bring the Saints within two at 7-5. USC continued to climb, but a service error from the Trojans and back-to-back kills from De Wilde put the score at 15-11. The set reached 24-15 in the Trojan's favor. Randy Adorno recorded the final kill for the Saints before USC took the second set 25-16.

Set Three
The Trojans carried their momentum into set three after going up 8-5. A kill from Tymek Brzoza along with two Trojan errors tied the game at eight. USC put up an 6-1 run to go up 14-9. As USC continued to climb, Tymek Brzoza recorded two more kills along with a service ace before the Trojans took set three 25-16 and the match 3-0.
