Saints Shutout Molloy on Sunday to Pick Up Their Third Win of the Season

SEAFORD, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Field Hockey Team returned to their winning ways after defeating Molloy university 3-0 on Sunday morning.

Freshman Olivia McClaine (Akron, N.Y. / Akron) earned two goals in the game, the first of which marking her first collegiate goal. Madisyn Grawl (Burlington, N.J. / Burlington) also put a goal on the board for the Saints. Hayden Herbold (East Aurora, N.Y. / Iroquois) recorded six saves in goal for her second shutout of the year.

The Saints took control on offense first getting two penalty corners in the first quarter. Kelsey Robertson (Holland, N.Y. / Holland) and Alexis Schleef (Akron, N.Y. / Akron) both got shots off, but the game remained scoreless. The Lions got their chances on offense, but goalkeeper, Hayden Herbold had two big saves to keep Molloy at zero. Olivia McClaine came up big in the ninth minute of the game to put the Saints on the board 1-0 with Robertson earning the assist.

As gameplay continued, Madisyn Grawl found the back of the goal with another assist from Robertson to put the Saints up 2-0 in the second quarter.

The Saints came out strong after halftime earning a penalty corner just 18 seconds into play. Olivia McClaine made the most of the opportunity and scored her second goal of the game to give the Saints the 3-0 lead. D'Youville's defense held the Lions to one shot in the second half and the Saints would pick up the 3-0 win on the road along with their second shutout of the season.
