DOBBS FERRY N.Y. – The D'Youville University Field Hockey Team suffered their first loss of the season falling 4-1 to Mercy University on Saturday morning.

Alexis Schleef (Akron, N.Y. / Akron) scored the lone goal for the Saints while Sophomore,
Hayden Herbold (East Aurora, N.Y. / Iroquois) recorded 10 saves in goal.

The Saints had their chance on offense first at the start of the game, but it was the Mavericks who netted the first goal in the first quarter to go up 1-0.
Kelsey Robertson (Holland, N.Y. / Holland) and
Madisyn Grawl (Burlington, N.J. / Burlington) both got shots off, but were unable to put a point on the board. Both teams battled in the second quarter, but neither team was able to put up a goal and the game went into halftime at 1-0 in the Mavericks favor.
Mercy netted another goal halfway into the third quarter to jump up 2-0.
Alexis Schleef earned a penalty shot towards the end of the third quarter and capitalized scoring her first goal of the season and putting the Saints on the board. The Mavericks quickly struck back scoring a goal of their own less than a minute later.
Trailing by two, the Saints got chances off of five penalty corners in the fourth quarter but could not convert for a goal. The Mavericks knocked one more goal in on a penalty shot before going on to win the game 4-1.
