BUFFALO, N.Y. – Back at Dobson Field for ECC action, the D'Youville University women's lacrosse team fell to RV Roberts Wesleyan by a score of 18-7 Saturday afternoon.
 
The Saints (4-8, 1-1 ECC) were led offensively by Madison Buck (Rochester, N.Y.) with four goals, Sam Newlin (Austin, Texas) with two goals, and Madison Handley (Lancaster, N.Y.) with two points (1 goal, 1 assist). Jillian Bernas (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) had two assists in the effort.
 
On the defensive end, Brinn Stworzydlak (Hamburg, N.Y.) finished with three groundballs while four players each had two caused turnovers.
 
Facing a 2-0 deficit in the early action, DYU bounced back with back-to-back goals from Bucka and Newlin to make it 2-2 with 8:24 left in the first quarter. The Redhawks answered with two more goals of their own before Newlin made it a 4-3 game at the 12:58 mark of the second quarter. RWU responded to make it 5-3 but a goal by Handley made it a one-goal game. The Redhawks pushed their lead back to two goals but back-to-back goals by Buck tied the game at 6-6 with 27 seconds before the break. RWU was able to add one more goal before the break.
 
Coming out of halftime, the Saints drew even with RWU as Bernas was able to find Buck for her fourth goal of the game at the 12:30 mark of the third quarter.
 
Stworzydlak went the distance in net, making 14 saves on the day.
 
The Saints will be back in action next Friday, April 12th, as they travel to face RV Mercy University at 3 p.m.
