NIAGARA FALLS, NY – The D'Youville University baseball team started this weekend's four-game series against Queens College with a 7-0 win over the Knights.

DYU saw their first scoring opportunity in the bottom of the second
Hunter Nowak (Hamburg, N.Y.) singled and
Alec Boucher (Essex, Ontario) to put a runner in scoring position, but they were unable to score.

The game remained scoreless through four and a half innings, but the Saints finally broke through in the bottom of the fifth.
Craig Oliver (Fredericton, New Brunswick) singled, stole second, and advanced to third on a
Blaise Kolbert (Lancaster, N.Y.) single. A wild pitch brought Oliver home to give DYU a 1-0 lead. After
Alex Dzimian (Lakeview, N.Y.) reached on an error,
Jeremy Glinski (Sloan, N.Y.) tripled to the left center field gap to drive in two more runs and make it 3-0.

Chris Auclair (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) got the start on the mound for the Saints and was lights out, throwing six shutout innings while only allowing three hits and punching out six batters.

In the bottom of the sixth, DYU was threatening to score again after a single from Boucher and back-to-back walks drawn by Oliver and Kolbert loaded the bases, but they were unable to score.

Jake Hollins (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and Glinski started the bottom of the seventh with consecutive singles to put runners at the corners. Nowak continued to swing a hot bat, driving in two runs with a single to make it 5-0 Saints. DYU tacked on another run after Oliver reached on an error by the Knights' shortstop to make it 6-0.

Dzimian drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the eighth, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt from Hollins.
Jon Simpson (Grand Island, N.Y.) drove Dzimian in with a single to pick up his ECC-leading 33
rd RBI of the season and extend DYU's lead to 7-0.

(Guelph, Ontario) shut the door on the Knights in the top of the ninth, throwing three scoreless innings in relief of Auclair to pick up his sixth save of the season.

D'Youville will continue their series with Queens on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 12:00 p.m.
