CARY, NC – The D'Youville University baseball team split their doubleheader against Domincan University (N.Y.) on Friday, winning game one 11-7 and dropping game two 2-1.

LHP
Chris Auclair (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) got the ball for the Saints in game one. The Chargers got on the board in the top of the first after a fielding error by 1B
Jon Simpson (Grand Island, N.Y.) allowed a run to score, followed by an RBI single. LF
Ethan Hammond (Oakville, Ontario) gunned down a runner at home trying to score the third run to end the inning.

Dominican tacked on a run in the third inning to go ahead 3-0. The Saints would respond in the bottom half of the inning. A single from 2B
Alec Boucher (Essex, Ontario) and a double from 3B
Blaise Kolbert (Lancaster, N.Y.) set up an RBI single from RF
Jake Hollins (Orchard Park, N.Y.) to cut the deficit to 3-1. DH
Alex Dzimian (Lakeview, N.Y.) drove in another run with a groundout to short to make it 3-2.

In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded and one out, CF
Dillon Crook (Liverpool, N.Y.) brought in all three with a triple down the right field line to put the Saints in front 5-3. DYU kept on adding, as Hollins doubled in a run and Dzimian singled in a run to make it 7-3 Saints.

DYU entered the final frame with a 7-4 lead, but RHP
Samuel Worthen (Guelph, Ontario) couldn't shut the door, and the Chargers tied it at 7-7 as the game moved to the bottom of the seventh. The Saints loaded the bases with two outs after Morris doubled, C
Jeremy Glinski (Sloan, N.Y.) was intentionally walked, and Hammond walked. Kolbert came up and launched the first pitch he saw over the right field wall for a walk-off grand slam and an 11-7 Saints win.

Dominican (N.Y.) 2, D'Youville 1 (7 innings)
RHP
Bryce Hediger (Chaffee, N.Y.) got the start on the mound for the Saints in game two. After getting in a jam in the bottom of the first, Hediger induced a groundout to first to strand runners at first and second.

The Chargers got to Hediger in the bottom of the third when a one-out double down the left field line brought in two runs.

Hollins recorded the Saints' first hit in the top of the fourth with a leadoff single, but Dominican retired the next three batters to preserve their 2-0 lead.

After allowing the two runs in the third, Hediger was unhittable, retiring the next nine batters he faced.

In the top of the sixth, Crook singled and Hollins walked to put runners on the corners with one away. Kolbert pushed the Saints' first run across with a sacrifice fly to center.

In the top of the seventh, DYU put the tying run on third and go-ahead run on second after Hammond singled and Boucher doubled with two outs. Pinch hitter
Hunter Nowak (Hamburg, N.Y.) was unable to bring them in, flying out to center to end the game.
