DURHAM, NC – The D'Youville University baseball team split their doubleheader against The College of Saint Rose on Sunday, dropping the first game 6-1 and winning the second game 10-5.

Mihir Manerikar (Mississauga, Ontario) toed the rubber for the Saints in game one. Manerikar cruised through the first four innings without giving up a run.

In the bottom of the second inning, 1B
Jon Simpson (Grand Island, N.Y.) cranked his sixth home run of the season to put DYU ahead 1-0. LF
Ethan Hammond (Oakville, Ontario), 2B
Alec Boucher (Essex, Ontario), and DH
Alex Dzimian (Lakeview, N.Y.) drew three consecutive walks to load the bases with one out. However, the next two batters were unable to bring them home.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Saints got the leadoff man on when C
Jeremy Glinski (Sloan, N.Y.) singled and then stole second. However, the next three batters went down in order and stranded Glinski at second.

Saint Rose got to Manerikar in the fifth inning, as the Golden Knights launched back-to-back home runs to take a 2-1 lead and end Manerikar's day. Saint Rose would tack on three more runs off RHP
Austin Delgado to make it 5-1.

The Saints saw a scoring opportunity in the bottom of the fifth when 3B
Blaise Kolbert (Lancaster, N.Y.) singled and SS
Billy Morris (Lancaster, N.Y.) walked, but they were unable to score.

In the bottom of the sixth, Glinski and Hammond both singled to start the inning, but once again DYU was unable to bring them in, and Saint Rose added an insurance run in the top of the seventh to secure the 6-1 win.

D'Youville 10, Saint Rose 5 (7 innings)
DYU got on the board early in game two, as Glinski doubled to bring in the Saints' first run in the top of the first. Saint Rose responded with two runs off RHP
Connor Joedicke (Bloomville, N.Y.) in the bottom half of the inning to go in front 2-1.

In the top of the second, after back-to-back walks from C
Derek Onevelo and CF
Caden Strobel (West Pittston, Pa.), Morris launched his first home run of the season to give DYU a 4-2 advantage.

In the top of the fourth, Strobel singled for his first hit and RBI of the season, bringing in RF
Jake Hollins (Orchard Park, N.Y.) to make it 5-3 Saints.

DYU kept adding in the fifth inning, when Simpson brought in a run with a double and Kolbert drove in two with his second home run of the weekend, extending the Saints' lead to 8-4.

In the top of the sixth, Simpson and Kolbert each drew bases-loaded walks to bring in two more runs and make it 10-4 D'Youville.

Samuel Worthen (Guelph, Ontario) got his second win of the year after throwing 2.2 scoreless innings in relief.
